Atlantic Motorsport finish P16 at Daytona 24h
At the beginning of the race, problems with iracing or with the computer of our first driver, Joao Fernandes, made Atlantic Motorsport car disappeared for a long time….., made some opponents unable to see the car and with that they did a lot of damage to us. The car was repaired for a long time and at the same time we changed drivers while Joao restarted his computer.
With the problem solved, but 25 laps late down and in P47 (last), we started our recovery until the final 16th place.
João made his initial stints driving like a madman to try to make up for lost time.
Diogo Miranda enters later driving at a dizzying speed almost causing a heart attack to Spotter and Crew Chief.
With the entry of Renato Matias, the car was at a point in the race when the objective was to recover and pass all the GT3s to be in the tail of the LMP2 livetiming.
Mario Rocha enters for his first stints, but he was uncomfortable with the car at that time, which allowed him to maintain a calm speed in the minute and 38 seconds.
With the night, Joao Fernandes and Diogo Miranda begin the great recovery. With some of the opponents already accusing a strong fatigue it was possible to reach the objective of staying in the tail of the livetiming and reaching P17.
At 8 o’clock in the morning, Joao tries to wake up Mario to get in the car because tiredness wouldn’t let him continue. Mario wakes up and get ready to go, but still sleepy. This time, Mario did 4 stints in a row when he does his best times riding close to the leaders’ times.
After Mario’s 4 stints, Diogo Miranda enters for the final laps and the still 2 hours and a half to go, he tied to regain 1 more place, which he did.
This is Atlantic Motorsport’s tough race, but it proved that this team never gives up on a challenge, no matter what.
